Bockley Gallery is a contemporary art venue and curatorial practice based in Minneapolis. It has represented dozens of artists over the years, including Andrea Carlson, Hock E Aye Vi Edgar Heap of Birds, Pao Houa Her, Postcommodity, Cara Romero, Dyani White Hawk, and the estates of Jim Denomie and George Morrison. The gallery offers an intimate experience with art through a calendar of on-site programming, while its outreach to local, national, and international museums and biennials expands the dialogue around what it believes to be the most relevant ideas in art today.
The gallery was founded by Todd Bockley and opened its first space in Minneapolis’s Warehouse District in 1984. In 2005, it moved to its current location, in the city’s Kenwood neighborhood. Artists on the Bockley roster have recently been featured in the Whitney Biennial, Documenta, the Carnegie International, Desert X, the National Portrait Gallery’s Outwin Prize exhibition, and Zona Maco. The gallery has begun curating exhibitions for other venues, most recently Snake Whisky Still Life and Other Stories at Various Small Fires in Los Angeles.
