Book Signing: Leslie Barlow’s Kith and Kin
Leslie Barlow’s new coffeetable book, Kith and Kin, features more than sixty images representing the artist’s paintings, exhibitions, and works-in-progress. An exploration into how race entangles the intimate sphere of love, family, and friendship, Barlow’s moving portraits are monuments to community members, depicting people in their own places of significance, surrounded by kin. Available for sale on Barlow’s website, the book includes thoughtful essays by Minnesota-based creatives Tricia Heuring, Alissa Paris, Nicole Asong Nfonoyim-Hara, Lola Osunkoya, and Jovan Speller.
In conjunction with Twin Cities Art Week, Bockley Gallery will host a book-signing with Barlow on October 16. Meet the artist over pastries and coffee, take in new works in the artist’s first solo show with the gallery, vision of a soft sun, and purchase a copy of Kith and Kin for signing (quantities may be limited).
